This Covert Online Investigations course is designed to teach law enforcement personnel how to start from the ground up in conducting covert online investigations. Students will be shown how to legally began building a covert identity online using numerous online resources. Students will be shown relevant and current case studies to reinforce the unconventional investigative techniques taught in the course. Students will learn the most current case law that allows them to use these techniques in their investigations.

Chatting Creation of covert accounts Maintaining covert accounts
Apps to assist in covert account investigations
Finding suspects using covert accounts
Engaging with suspects
Capturing and presenting evidence obtained during communications
Exercises for students to demonstrate proficiency
Students will be provided a smart phone in class to begin building their covert account from ground zero. S
Students will also receive a list of investigative resources in the class and shown numerous free databases/resources during the class.

PERSONNEL WHAT TO BRING: This is a hands-on course, students are required to bring a laptop or tablet with internet access.
INSTRUCTOR: Detective Sewall is a highly commended detective working primarily undercover on internet crimes against children cases. He is known for his ability to use trending technology and applications to find and exploit the new online “playground” of child predators. He has organized multi-defendant proactive undercover online operations while using undercover chatting and personas which have resulted in hundreds of child enticement, child pornography and child sexual assault arrest and convictions.
