The Denton Police Department will be conducting an upcoming training class in Bicycle Crowd Management techniques used in mobile field force incidents involving public marches, rallies, protest, and crowd management direction. This new technique is used by the Austin Police Department, Fort Worth Police Department, Texas DPS Capitol Troopers, Cleveland Ohio Police, and Seattle Police Department. These crowd management techniques have been used at the RNC and DNC in the summer of 2016 and recently been used in marches and rallies in Seattle, Fort Worth, Calgary Canada, Austin and Fort Worth. All officers attending this class will receive 20 hours of TCOLE credit. Information on the class is listed below.
Officer attending must be bicycle certified
Needed equipment:
All officer need to bring a police mountain bike and a helmet
Day 1 and 2, clothing you can ride a bike in shorts, t-shirts, athletic shoes
Day 3, police bike uniform from your agency with duty belt. Before any drills start instructors will check that the duty belt has NO weapons on it.
Please note, it is recommend each officer brings a water bottle or bottle water for the class.
