Firearms 2 / 2021

This course will consist of practice, qualification, and skills drills for the duty handgun, back up off duty gun, and patrol rifle.  

• Officers will demonstrate the ability to disassemble and clean their duty handguns while at the range.

Officers should bring the following equipment:

• Body armor
• Duty handgun, with a minimum of three magazines loaded with duty ammo and duty gear.
• Backup/ Off duty gun, if you have one, with a minimum of two magazines loaded with duty ammo.
• Patrol Rifle, if you have one, with two magazines loaded with duty ammo.

For those shooting handguns only, instructional time will be 2 hours.  Clean up will occur after instructional time for the rifle portion ends.  Instructional time is 3 hours for those shooting handguns and rifles.  For those needing additional qualification attempts, they will take place after the rifle portion of the training.  

Be prepared for inclement weather.

Denton Police officer who has previously qualified at this agency.
