DESCRIPTION

This course is a 4 hour course that focuses on the skills necessary to utilize the handgun in a high stress environment in a law enforcement setting.  Grip, stance, sights, trigger, and draw will be covered as well as reloading, stoppage clearance, shooting with one hand only, shooting from retention position, and utilizing cover.  Concentration throughout the course will be using the handgun accurately at speed to engage realistically sized targets of 8 inch body hit zones and 3"x5" head hit zones.    
Equipment for the course
  • Reliable Service Handgun
  • Duty leather, or if shooting from concealment a holster that maintains placement on the belt and does not collapse when the gun is drawn.  
  • At least 3 magazines
  • 250 rounds of quality practice ammunition 
    • (Ammunition provided for Denton Police Officers)
  • Eye and ear protection
  • Inclement weather gear

 

 

PREREQUISITES

This is a course designed to improve skills for intermediate shooters.
